Project Description
Through this project, we aim to educate and inform butchers
about the significance of hygiene, proper storage and safe disposal
of waste. Most small meat vendors and butchers do not possess
proper shops or storage facilities and several indulge in malpractices
such as slaughtering sick animals and injecting beef with water
to increase its weight. In order to improve hygiene, we intend
to provide them with rubber gloves, cleaning brushes, high pressure
water pipes and various cleaning solutions. Proper
waste disposal techniques will be taught to them and they will
be provided with polythene bags – to store waste. We will
also attempt to persuade the town municipal authorities to install
waste disposal units near meat shops to maintain an efficient
system of cleanliness.
Lahore District Coordination Officer and Chief Food Inspector
will guide us towards successful goal accomplishment.
We
believe that the local residents would be more attracted to
the hygienic meat vendor; as a result other meat vendors in
the locality would be ‘forced’ to implement hygienic
practices as well.
Objective
To educate butchers about the importance of a hygienic environment,
and teach them hygienic storage practices and effective waste
disposal techniques leading to less disease and healthier people.
Target
Market
